In January 2009, Roman restaurateur Massimiliano visited Mauritius and was so captivated that he left his beloved Rome and business to open a new chapter. By March 2009, his small seaside restaurant, Max Mamma Mia, was born.
It was a challenge to introduce traditional Italian cuisine—from homemade pasta to pizza with 24-hour prepared dough—to the locals. Through passion and mentorship, Massimiliano trained his staff, who he now considers family.
With the recent arrival of his son, Edo, the family has grown, allowing Massimiliano to return to his first love: creating new recipes in the kitchen. With the help of his team—Pooja, Chefs Noha and Giuseppe, pizzaiolas Shivani and Varsha, and Gus—he is proud of their success, a journey they are only just beginning together.
